My venture into linocut printing began after I struggled to find original wall art that represented my style: imperfect, minimalist, and city-inspired. In a sea of mass-produced and bubbly prints, I wanted to create something that was a little alternative, gritty, and modern. I focus on real NYC scenes, sights, and people -- imperfections and all.
I never know how a carve is going to go or how a print is going to turn out, but that’s why I love it.
I hope you do, too.
BACKGROUND
I’ve been doing art since I was a child, but never in a professional capacity. I studied Fine Art for a short time, but ultimately dropped out of the program. Art is something I choose to enjoy and I only create when I feel inspired. My greatest sources of inspiration are walking around NYC and Brooklyn, eating delicious food, and people-watching. I live with my partner and my dog, Max (the subject of many of my personal prints).
Materials
I source recycled paper, frames, blocks, and other materials as much as possible. Besides the lino blocks, I try to avoid using plastic and other single-use materials. I do not guarantee 100% recycled materials, as these can be difficult to find, but I am passionate about creating art that has a minimal footprint.
